Positive Group Experiences through Role Playing
Entering the Game World
This role-playing activity immersed participants in fictional challenges designed to encourage teamwork, decision-making, and creative problem-solving. While initial hesitation was present, it gradually gave way to active participation as young people adapted to their roles and began engaging more autonomously with the game’s narrative.
Learning Through Collaboration
As the storyline evolved, participants reflected on strengths and weaknesses—both their own and those of the characters they embodied. Working together toward shared goals supported socialization, cooperation, and a deeper appreciation of each individual’s role within the group.
Play as Emotional Release
The recreational nature of role play allowed participants to momentarily “unplug” from everyday concerns. This highlighted the emotional value of playful, narrative-based tools as spaces for expression, exploration, and connection.
Strengthening Group Cohesion
Participant feedback confirmed that role playing can be a powerful medium for self-expression, teamwork, and group cohesion, reinforcing its role as an effective approach for positive group experiences among young people.
