From Expression to Movement: A Collective Performance of Emotion
As part of the international meeting presented in our previous post, within the framework of the Healthy Inclusion through Art project, participants and coordinators came together to co-create a powerful artistic performance that captured the essence of emotional expression, connection, and collective transformation.
This performance was not designed as a traditional showcase, but as a lived, evolving process. Through a series of interconnected acts, participants explored and expressed their emotions using different creative forms. The journey began with personal reflection, where individuals were invited to recognise and externalise their feelings. These emotions were then translated into visual expression through painting, allowing participants to give shape and colour to their internal experiences.
As the process unfolded, individual expressions gradually moved into a shared space. What started as personal exploration became collective creation. Participants and facilitators worked side by side, moving beyond predefined roles and fostering a sense of trust, equality, and openness within the group.
The performance culminated in a powerful choreography, developed collaboratively and rooted in the emotions that had been explored throughout the process. Movement became a shared language, enabling participants to communicate beyond words and connect on a deeper, embodied level.
The final video captures more than the outcome of the activity. It reflects the process itself: the vulnerability, the creativity, the interactions, and the transformation that took place within the group. It shows how art can move from individual expression to collective experience, creating a space where inclusion is not only discussed but actively experienced.
This activity highlights the core philosophy of the project: that creative practices can foster emotional awareness, strengthen connections, and build inclusive environments where every participant feels seen, heard, and valued.
