Behind the Mask

Exploring Identity, Goals, and Self-Expression

Behind the Mask offered young participants a reflective and creative space to explore identity, emotions, personal strengths, and future aspirations. Through visual creation, writing, and journaling, participants were invited to look inward and express who they are beyond external expectations.

The creative process supported self-awareness and confidence, allowing participants to articulate feelings, motivations, and goals in a tangible way. Selecting images and words connected to future aspirations also strengthened decision-making and planning skills, helping participants reflect on how they see themselves progressing.

A particularly meaningful outcome was the calm, focused atmosphere that emerged. Participants became deeply absorbed, shifting attention away from family or external responsibilities and toward self-centred reflection—an important step in emotional development.

Competences developed

  • Knowledge: Personal motivations, goals, and well-being
  • Skills: Decision-making, goal identification, creative and visual expression, journaling, communication
  • Attitudes: Self-confidence, openness, reflective thinking, engagement with others

Many participants expressed interest in continuing journaling independently, using their creative outputs as reminders of the goals they identified.
