Creative Expression and Youth Engagement Through Urban Art

Within the framework of the Healthy Inclusion through Art project, Magnolia implemented the artistic tool Sprayed with young people in Portugal as part of Work Package 3: Development of Key Competencies in Young People.

The session was designed to explore how urban and contemporary art practices can function as meaningful tools for youth engagement. Through colour, visual experimentation, and symbolic expression, participants were encouraged to explore creativity as a form of communication rather than technical performance. The focus remained on participation, ownership, and self-expression, allowing young people to engage with the process in ways that felt authentic to them.

Sprayed formed part of Magnolia’s contribution to the project’s transnational cooperation, supporting the shared goal of testing artistic methodologies in real youth work contexts. By implementing the tool locally, Magnolia generated valuable insight into how arts-based approaches can strengthen creative confidence and engagement among young people.

The session was documented using the common Session Summary Report template, ensuring consistency, comparability, and alignment with partner organisations across Europe.
